Fraxel Laser Treatment Case Study

Choose it if: You have ageing, sun damaged skin with age spots or malasma. Acne scarring, wrinkles and fine lines. The Fraxel Laser stimulates the skin’s own healing process resulting in natural rejuvenation that removes years from your appearance. The treatment is suitable the face, neck, décolletage, hands or any area of the body where theses problems are present. Gillie had spent years living in the sun and had significant sun damage. Pigmentation that had become more prominent in the past couple of years, and the neck and lower face were showing signs of age and sun damage. Fine lines were beginning to show around the eyes with some scaring from teenage spots. Gillie explains: “I was beginning to hate the way my face and neck looked. I have regular facials but they can only do so much I needed something more radical”

Recovery time: I have a very busy job and social life so I did not want something that would mean weeks of downtime. With the Fraxel I could go back to work the next day with the cleaver use of make up. The treatment involved having an anaesthetic gel on the face and neck for one hour. The doctor then guides the laser over the face several times. The anaesthetic means there is no discomfort and cool air is blown on your face through out the treatment, which takes around 45 minutes. Tiny beams penetrate deep into the skin to stimulate the skin at a deep level. Expect to experience some swelling and redness over the next three to four days. Depending on your skin you can decide if you would like a more aggressive treatment with more pronounced side effects or less aggressive treatments which achieve the same results but with a few more treatments.

Lasting results
: It is very precise and you can expect to see results on two levels. Immediately after initial healing is complete the surface of the skin will feel softer, brighter and tone will start to become more even. Progressive results occur over the next three to six months as the deeper layers continue to heal and improve.
