A fifth of the population think their partner has bad breath and almost half of the people think a friend or colleague has it. This research has been carried out by the British Dental Health Foundation.
Some people find bad breath a bigger problem than others. In the UK 2.5 million people are suffering from it.

The best ways to prevent bad breath are:

- Regular cleaning with a dental hygienist
- Avoid foods with strong odours
Not only seeing a cosmetic dentist or a dental hygienist prevent or treat bad breath, it may stop or prevent you getting gum disease and therefore keeping your teeth longer. This can also prevent systemic health problems, as bacteria found in gum disease are found in other health problems such as heart disease.
